Boulders Beach

Boulders Beach

A short distance away from St James lies one of Cape Town’s most special experiences. Boulders Beach near Simon’s Town is often windless with no large waves as it’s protected by ancient granite boulders which makes it an ideal swimming spot and safer for children. The beach is clean and safe as it falls under the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected Area. Boulders also has local inhabitants, African penguins, which have taken up residence in the warm(ish) waters and are a delight for all sunbathers and swimmers. To protect this remarkable colony and to keep the beach lovely, there is a small cash entrance fee, which is currently R65.

Opening times:
Summer: 08:00 to 18:30
Winter: 08:00 to 17:00
